      یخ آلود ٹھنڈی ہوا
      بادلوں سے بھری شام ہو
      اور طوفاں زدہ بحر کی تند موجوں کی مانند
      آوازیں دیتے ہوئے پیڑ ہوں
      شہر کی سُونی گلیوں میں اُڑتے ہوئے خشک پتّوں،
      پر اسرار دروازے کھلنے کی مدھم صدا،
      ریشمی پیرہن سرسرانے کی خوشبوؤں کا شور ہو
      اور ہم چپکے بیٹھے
      کسی کی جفائیں، کسی کی وفا یاد کرتے ہوئے
      اپنے بے چین دل کو سُلاتے رہیں
