      شہر کے گھر سنسان پڑے ہیں
      سارے لوگ گھروں کے باہر
      چاند کی پوجا کرنے گئے ہیں

      وہ ویراں باغوں میں جا کر
      چاند نکلتا سیکھتے ہیں
      جب مشرق پر روشنی کا
      اک تیز نشان چمکتا ہے
      وہ سرگوشی کے لہجے میں
      کچھ منتر پڑھتے رہتے ہیں

      رات گئے تک اسی طرح وہ
      چاند کو جلتا دیکھتے ہیں
      دوری کے ریگستانوں میں
      لہو اگلتا دیکھتے ہیں
