Tempted to open the funny pictures your friends keep sending while you’re on the road? Driving Mode in Windows Phone can help reduce distractions from your phone while you're behind the wheel. Turn this feature on to limit notifications on the lock screen (including texts, calls and quick status alerts) until you’re safely parked. You can even send automatic replies when someone tries to contact you, so they won’t worry when you can’t get back to them.

To set up Driving Mode
You'll need a Bluetooth device (such as a hands-free car kit or headset) that's been paired to your phone to set up Driving Mode. After you've set up a device, Driving Mode will turn on automatically whenever your phone connects to it.

If you haven't paired a Bluetooth device to your phone yet, in the App list, tap Settings Settings icon, then tap Bluetooth and pair a device to your phone.

After the device is paired, go back to the App list and tap Settings Settings icon > Driving Mode.

Tap Next, then do one or both of the following:

To send incoming calls to voicemail, turn on Ignore calls Toggle on icon.
To turn off text notifications, turn on Ignore texts Toggle on icon.
Tap Next, then do one or more of the following:

To automatically send a text reply to calls, turn on Text replies to calls Toggle on icon.
To automatically send a text reply to texts, turn on Text replies to texts Toggle on icon.
To customise the reply, type the message you want in your text replies, then tap Next.
To set up your Bluetooth device for Driving Mode, tap the device name in the list. Once you've set up a device, Driving Mode will automatically start whenever your phone connects to the device.

Tap Next, then tap Finish to finish setting up Driving Mode.

To use Driving Mode
To start Driving Mode, connect any Bluetooth device you've set up for this feature. If the screen is off, you don't need to do anything – your phone will automatically turn on Driving Mode.

If your screen is on, when the Start Driving Mode? screen appears, tap Yes. If you don't want Driving Mode on, tap No.

Notes
You can add more Bluetooth devices to Driving Mode, remove devices you’ve set up or change your auto-reply settings at any time by going to Settings Settings icon > Driving Mode > Add devices.
Some emergency calls and messages may not come through when Driving Mode is turned on.
All app notifications will be turned off while Driving Mode is on, even if you’ve set them up to show quick status on your lock screen.
To turn off Driving Mode
You can turn off Driving Mode for one time only, for a particular Bluetooth device, or completely.

In the App list, tap Settings Settings icon > Driving Mode.

Do one of the following:

To turn off Driving Mode for one time only, turn off Status Toggle off icon. It will stay off until the next time it connects to a Bluetooth device set up for Driving Mode.
To turn off Driving Mode for a particular Bluetooth device, tap Add devices, then tap the Bluetooth device name. The device will still appear in the list and be available to connect to your phone, but Ready for Driving Mode will be removed from under the device's name. If you want to turn it on again later, tap that Bluetooth device again.
When Ready for Driving Mode no longer appears under any of the Bluetooth devices on the list, Driving Mode is completely disabled.
Note
To use Driving Mode, your phone needs to have Windows Phone software version 8.0.10501.127 or later.
