Before going to Canada, you should check whether you need a visa. Here are some guidelines to help you plan your stay in the country.

To visit Canada, you must first determine whether you need a visa as a visitor. You can visit the following link to obtain a list of countries whose citizens require a visa: www.cic.gc.ca

If you need a visa, you will need to apply as a visitor. Parents or grandparents may apply as a business traveler.

If you belong to the category of visa-exempt travelers, you should still be able to convince an immigration officer that you are meeting requirements to enter Canada. This will avoid you of being denied entry to Canada. To do so, you must have a valid passport.

Requirements
Visitors exempted from the visa requirement must meet other criteria. They must have a machine readable passport, or even an electronic passport. You must know the specific requirements that apply to your country in terms of passport.

You will also be requested to undergo a medical examination. You will have to visit a visa office to obtain instructions.

Visa for parents and grandparents
If you are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident and you come from a country whose citizens do not require a visa to enter Canada, you can get a Super Visa for parents and grandparents. This will allow you to visit the country for a period of up to two years without having to renew your permit.
